Putney Theatre Company has introduced a new show to their festive calendar. The theatre invites you to enter a world of dark comic stories, wicked humour and tall tales based on old folklore and new horrors. Following a group of travelling Gypsies, the story follows the ill fated love affair of the Gypsy King and Queen, entwined with the ghostly fables of the rest of the band.
With original music and songs written for and by the cast, the Gypsies weave a web of old folklore and new horrors through their music and storytelling. Ancient legends claw their way out of the darkness, forgotten heroes reignite the memories of their deeds as they regale you with their adventures. Cunning witches and clever demons will alarm you with the lengths to which they will go to get what they want.
The Tales of Petrushka promises to be unique seasonal fare, combining the best parts of traditional festive productions with innovative twists on familiar stories, the like of which you've never seen before and are not likely to forget for a long time.
